Childrens Braces

Children’s Braces are very common in children from the age of 12. By that time, they would have lost all of their Milk Teeth and their Adult Teeth will be in their final position.

Braces can correct the position of the teeth which will in turn allow your child to bite correctly, eat comfortably and improve their smile and confidence.

Treatment can last between 1 to 2 years depending on the position of the teeth. Your child may also need a tooth extraction if braces are required due to overcrowding.

The removal of teeth will allow more room and the gaps will close up with the brace and leave a nice set of straight teeth.

Unlike the NHS, you don’t need to get referred by your Dentist to an Orthodontist. Orthodontic treatment is available by our qualified Dentists at Bromsgrove Dental Clinic.

After Children’s Braces are fitted, we will tell you how to look after them to ensure your teeth are also looked after.

For example, children will need to take extra care when cleaning their teeth and try to avoid lots of sugary food and drinks.

Can I prevent my child from having braces?

Your child may develop warning signs that they will need a brace, such as losing their milk teeth before 4 or after 8, their teeth may protrude or have trouble biting.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a great deal you can do. Although if they use a dummy or suck their thumb for a long period this can cause teeth to stick out, so you could try to prevent this.

What children's braces are available?

We offer different braces for different needs, but this can be discussed at your child’s consultation. Check out our Orthodontist page to read about the different Braces we provide to Adults and Children.

How much do Childrens braces cost?

At Bromsgrove Dental Clinic braces start from £1500 and will be case dependent.

At your child’s consultation we can discuss what needs to be achieved, they type of braces and the time required. This will of course affect the cost. However, it may seem a large cost now but it’s an investment in the future of your child’s teeth.

Once they have been straightened its highly unlikely they will go back to how they were or even have slight misalignment so it’s a worthy investment. We also offer 0% Interest to help spread the cost.
