Bromsgrove Dental Clinic have put together some tips for our lovely patients that you might not have read before!
We’ve all heard the most common dental tips “Brush twice daily, floss once a day, make regular trips to the dentist – these are all very important, but we thought you’d like to hear about some new tips we’ve discovered along the way!
#1 – Chew sugar-free gum
In addition to brushing, flossing and mouthwash, chewing sugar-free gum after a meal can help protect your teeth. It increases saliva flow, which naturally washes bacteria away and neutralises any acid.
#2 – Eat ‘detergent’ foods
Did you know that foods that are firm or crisp help clean teeth as they’re eaten. Food such as apples (otherwise known as nature’s toothbrush), raw carrots, celery, and popcorn (yes popcorn!).
#3 – Clean your tongue
Use a tongue scraper every day to remove tongue plaque and freshen your breath. One major cause of bad breath is the buildup of bacteria on the tongue, which a daily tongue scraping will help banish. Tests have shown that a tongue scraper is more effective than a toothbrush.
#4 – Go on a White Teeth Diet
If you’re drinking red wine, cola and black tea, or smoking cigarettes or cigars, expect the results to show up as not-so-pearly whites. Brush immediately after eating or drinking foods that stain teeth. For convenient teeth-cleaning action, eat an apple or chew sugar-free gum.
Alternative options to improve the colour of your teeth is Teeth Whitening. Click here to find out more about Bromsgrove Dental Clinic Teeth Whitening treatments.
